Program agenda:

IWD 2025 is a hybrid in person and virtual event featuring an update on the status of women globally and in Georgia.  The 2025 IWD theme is:  Women, Wealth, & Power.

9:00 am – 1:00 pm International Women’s Day Program

1:30 pm – 3:00 pm PowerTalk Mentorship Program



Agenda: 

  • IWD Program:  Women, Wealth and Power:   Where do women in the US and Globally stand economically? Why? And where might we go -- when it comes to Wealth, Ownership and Influence? 

    8:30-9:00 :  Registration, networking

    9:00- 9:05:  Emcee Saleemah Abdul-Ghafuropens program.

    9:05-9:15:  Arts moment:  Singers from Agnes Scott College get us off to a rousing start. 

    9:15-9:30:  Starting with Context:  World Economic Forum analyst – setting the pace with World Economic Forum’s Gender Gap Index for 2024.  

    9:30- 10:15:  Session 1 (Panel discussion) Starting with ContextIn this session, we’ll explore the “whys” behind the statistics.  Data from the World Economic Forum’s Gender Gap Index for 2024 gave us a macro view of the economic status of women.  Now we’ll delve deeper into the historical, legal, and cultural challenges that have and continue to create hurdles to economic gender parity, or simply said – women’s ability to get ahead.

  • 10:15- 10:30:  Break 


    10:30- 11:20:  Session 2 (Panel Discussion) Money:  How women are overcoming hurdles to get it, and grow it, both in the US and internationally.  A look at what happens when women have access to capital, can build businesses, can build communities, can build their own financial muscle.  The empowerment of ownership.

    Panelists include:

    Donata Russell Ross, Chief Executive Officer, Concessions International and Board Member of Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs

    Luz UrrutiaChief Executive Officer, Accion Opportunity Fund and Founder of El Banco de Nuestra Comunidad


  • Moderated by: IWF member and Board of Director,  Virginia Hepner


    11:20- 11:35:  Break

    11:35 – 12:20:  Session 3: Power and Intention:  IWF super-stars -- Natosha Reid Rice in conversation with Liz Blaketo explore her personal journey in philanthropy and activism.  They’ll talk about how, as women build financial means, they decide what to do with it.  Philanthropy , politics, investing and everywhere women might exert more influence and power.  

    12:20- 12:30:  Saleemah with closing thoughts and final thank yous .

    12:30- 12:35:   Final Arts moment – a reading or poem relating to our topic from Tinashe Kajese-Bolden, Jennings Hertz Artistic Director, Alliance Theater. 


    1:30 pm – 3:00 pm PowerTalk Mentorship Program
